IT INTERN

JOB PURPOSE

AMEC offers construction management, site development, concrete, demolition and waste services to keep pace with the growing demand in the construction industries. To offer that level of service, we need strong technical support. We are currently seeking 1-2 Network Admin Interns to train and develop within our company.

You will be a member of the team that provides internal IT Services for employees. Network Admin Intern will work with the Network Admin team to learn to work with Windows Servers, Small business servers, Virtual Machines, Active Directory, Routers, Switches, VPNs, troubleshoot PC hardware and software issues, provide help-desk, and work directly with users. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically savvy, ambitious student to advance their skills in a fast-paced and fun environment. 

Once the Internship is completed, and there is an open position available, you will be given priority over outside hires. Otherwise, we will help you conduct several mock interviews to prepare you for a paid position. 
 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the direction of Senior IT Staff, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Help desk calls from users and assist them with minor issues 

  • Escalate higher level calls to senior-level IT staff when needed

  • Troubleshoot PC-based (Troubleshooting windows 7 and windows 10) hardware and software

  • Set up new employees (laptop imaging, user accounts, email, building and application access, phone)

  • Install, configure, and update computer hardware and software

  • Manage users account through Active Directory (creating users, unlocking account, password reset, updating information, etc.)

  • Maintain official records of IT inventory 

  • Recommend ways to optimize our computing environment

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications, required

  • Working knowledge of windows operating systems, required

  • Basic understanding of system security concepts and practices, required

  • Basic networking concepts, required

  • Knowledge of hardware and software concepts, required

  • Ability to communicate orally and written, required

  • Ability to have attention to detail and documentation practices, required

  • Knowledge of Windows 7 and Windows 10, required

  • The ability to manage multiple assignments and set priorities to meet deadlines, required

  • Knowledge of Active Directory, optional

  • Ability to work M-F with occasional nights and weekends

  • Minimum of 20 hours per week required either mornings or afternoons
